Canada's Federal Government placed the polar bear on a list of species of special concern that offers more protection. The listing of a species as special concern means a management plan must be prepared within three years to prevent the listed species from becoming endangered or threatened. The president of Polar Bears International said the move will help preserve the very fragile polar bear.
