Greenhouse 18 stories high to be built in Sweden

Sweden builds 18-story greenhouse | Grist

Sweden has always been a very progressive country and this bold plan is just another example of ingenuity and daring by a Swedish company.  Volvo was a leader in the manufacture of great automobiles and pioneered assembly methods that put an end to the assembly lines seen in America because worker satisfaction was a priority with Volvo.

Swedish company Plantagon International is taking the urban greenhouse to the next level, and then the 17 levels beyond that.

Their new vertical greenhouse in Linköping, Sweden will be 177 feet high!

Plantagon’s goal is to make large-scale sustainable farming realistic in urban environments, and this greenhouse will act as a proof of concept as well as their flagship project.

The company broke ground for the building last week, and estimates that it will be be completed in 12 to 16 months.
