The breakthrough brings the commercial production of hydrogen fuel a step closer. When coated with nickel, researchers found silicon electrodes were able to avoid corrosion and split H2O molecules for longer. Hydrogen fuel doesn't release greenhouse gases and, if affordable, could help power more sustainable transport.
